White Dove Project
During the height of the refugee crisis, our Paris team begun working with displaced and refugee women and children in France, and via Skype for women in besieged Syrian cities, as well as through visiting workshops at refugee camps in Berlin and Calais.
Our online workshops were especially impactful, enabling us to reach out to women and children cut off by UN blockades and deliver our programmes through the innovative medium of Skype, setting the stage for work we have continued to do throughout the Covid pandemic with constituents around the world. It enabled us to realise how technology could be harnessed to deliver our programmes to a much bigger population, whilst still preserving the intimacy and participatory element of what makes our in-person workshops so impactful.
Refugee and displaced women and children face the emotional and psychological trauma of war, combined with the need to adapt to their new reality, finding jobs, learning language and supporting and sustaining their families. The White Dove Project provides participatory theatre workshops that empower them to develop the confidence, leadership, creativity and communication skills necessary to overcome the challenges and build new lives and hope for the future.
